How the document quota works

Your plan includes a monthly allowance of "documents." A document is simply one file you run through any tool. This article explains exactly what counts, when the count resets, and how to keep an eye on it.

What counts as a document

Each file you process counts as one document. Upload a receipt photo and download the CSV — that's one. Merge three PDFs into one file — that counts as one document too, because it's one processing job, not one input file. Generating a QR code counts as one. Downloading the same result twice does not count again; only the processing job itself counts.

A document is not a page, and not a file

These three things are different, and only one of them uses quota:

  • A document = one processing job. This is the only thing that counts against your quota.
  • A page = one page inside a PDF. A 20-page PDF processed once counts as one document, not twenty.
  • A file = what you upload or download. Merging 3 files is still one document, because it's one job.

Monthly limits by plan

Free: 10 documents per month. Pay as you go: billed per document at $0.03, no monthly cap. Pro: 500 per month. Growth: 2,500 per month. Unused documents don't roll over — the counter resets to your full allowance on the 1st of every month, regardless of plan.

Where to see your usage

Your usage meter lives in the portal header: "Documents 4 / 10" with a progress bar. It updates in real time after each job finishes. If you ever think the count is wrong, compare it against your recent activity — every completed job increments it by exactly one.

What happens when you run out

When your quota hits zero, tools will tell you before you upload, not after — you'll see a message saying you've used all your documents, with a link to upgrade. Nothing is processed, and nothing is charged. Your options:

  • Wait for the 1st-of-month reset, when your full allowance comes back.
  • Upgrade to a paid plan — your new quota starts the moment you upgrade, and any documents you already used that month still count.
  • Switch to Pay as you go if you only need a few extra — $0.03 per document, no subscription.

Good to know

  • Failed jobs (a corrupt file, an unsupported format) do not consume quota — only successfully completed jobs count.
  • Batch operations count once per job. Splitting one PDF into a ZIP of pages is one document, not one per page.
  • The free 10 documents are enough to test every tool several times before deciding on a paid plan.
  • Pay as you go has no monthly fee and no quota — it simply charges $0.03 per document, which suits occasional heavy months.
  • If you consistently hit your limit mid-month, Pro ($9.99/mo) is cheaper than 334 pay-as-you-go documents.
